About
Haru A companion for the fourth trimester.
Haru is a quiet place for new parents to keep track of caring for a baby — and of recovering themselves — in the months right after birth.
Why we built it
Haru began with a simple realization after welcoming our daughter into the world. There are countless apps for pregnancy, and countless trackers for babies. Almost nothing walks with you through what comes after — the healing, the exhaustion, the enormous love, the quiet worry that you might be missing something.
Those first weeks are full and foggy. You’re handed a new person and asked to remember when they last ate, how long they slept, which medication you took, whether that pain is normal, and what the appointment on Thursday was for. Most of it gets held in your head, and your head is already very full.
So we built the companion we wished we’d had: one that helps you care for your baby without forgetting to care for yourself.
What you can do in Haru
Haru holds four kinds of things, and tries not to ask for more than it needs.
- Baby care. Feedings at the breast and by bottle, diapers, sleep, growth measurements, solids, and activity.
- Recovery. Mood, symptoms, pain, and medicines, so healing gets the same attention the baby does.
- A shared timeline. One record your household reads together, instead of five different versions of the night.
- Gentle trends. Simple views over recent days, to notice patterns and see progress you’re too close to spot.
You can invite a partner or another caregiver into your family space. Haru also keeps working when you lose signal — your notes live on your device and sync when you’re back online and signed in.
What Haru is not
Haru is not a medical device, and it doesn’t diagnose anything. It won’t tell you that you’re doing it wrong, and it won’t score your parenting. Anything that worries you belongs with your doctor or midwife — Haru just helps you arrive at that conversation with what you actually remember.
Signing in
You can open Haru with Google Sign-In so you don’t have to invent another password. When you do, Haru receives your Google email, display name, and profile picture — only to recognize you and keep your account secure.
Haru does not open your Gmail, Drive, Contacts, or Calendar, and it doesn’t use that information for advertising. The notes you write stay in Haru; they’re never written back to Google.
How we treat your data
- Encrypted in transit and at rest on our infrastructure.
- Visible only to you and the caregivers you invite.
- Never sold, and never used to target ads.
The full detail lives in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Where we are
Haru is in closed beta and free to use. It runs in your browser at app.harucare.ca today, with Android and iOS apps in progress. Partner support, gentle recommendations, smart routines, and wearables are what we’re working toward next.
